Her work highlights the connections between ceramic and painting practices\, resulting in pieces that are both beautiful and functional. \nJoin Melissa Werpy for an artist talk on Sunday\, June 21\, from 5-7 p.m. at Ida Graves Distillery. DESCRIPTION:The Alexandria Art Guild’s June Artist of the Month\, Jewett Benson\, will be honored at an Artist Reception on Saturday\, June 13\, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Guild’s downtown gallery\, 612 Broadway Street in Alexandria. A retired Alexandria art educator\, Benson works in watercolor\, oil\, and mixed media\, creating landscapes\, florals\, abstractions\, and graphic works inspired by the beauty of central Minnesota. \nThe public is invited to meet the artist\, view a special exhibition of his work\, and enjoy light refreshments. \nThe exhibition will remain on display throughout June. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday\, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday\, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and closed Sunday.
