SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting: Aagard Splash Pad & Viking Bank Playground
DESCRIPTION:A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place on Thursday\, May 21 at 4 pm to celebrate the grand opening of the Aagard Splash Pad & Viking Bank Playground at Fillmore Park located at 1510 Fillmore St. \nThe Aagard Splash Pad started with early exploration in 2014. From there concept development\, park board approval\, visioning and fundraising\, and city council approval took place. COVID then put a pause on things. In 2023 the splash pad was incorporated into the City’s Parks & Trail Master Plan and in 2024 the vision group for the project re-engaged and started up fundraising efforts bringing the project to where it is now. It is located at Fillmore Park was made possible by the generosity and support of major donors including Aagard\, Alexandria Elks Lodge\, Rotary Club of Alexandria\, the Alexandria Splash Pad 2.0 Community Group\, and many more.
