WHAT: Prairie Lakes Audubon Chapter Anniversary Meeting with Sharon Stiteler: The “Birdchick!”

Prairie Lakes Audubon Chapter is celebrating their 12th anniversary as a chapter of the National Audubon Society. The meeting will feature presenter Sharon Stiteler widely known as the “Birdchick.”

Sharon is a writer and speaker who has made it her career to get paid to go birding. She wrote the books Disapproving Rabbits, 1001 Secrets Every Birder Should Know, and North American Bird Watching for Beginners and regularly appears on television, podcasts, radio answering bird questions as well as performs in storytelling shows. She’s worked a variety of jobs like conducting bird surveys, field trip leader, park ranger, and was even the voice of Denali National Park and Preserve. She currently resides in Minnesota with a retired Denali sled dog named Party Pants.

The “Birdchick” will present Today’s Office: Humorous stories of one woman’s quest to get paid to go birding and the various offices that she has worked in including flying in small planes over the Mississippi River a nude beach in Florida. Laugh along to stories of nemesis birds, being a sober ride for drunk waxwings, and what it’s like to live in the remote wilderness of Alaska. Please join us for laughs and bird stories from Sharon Stiteler.

There is no cost to attend this program, but donations are always accepted.

Brief year review will be presented at the beginning of the program.

Prairie Lakes Audubon Chapter is the local Chapter of National Audubon Society for ANYONE interested in birds and nature. We have regular informal meetings and birding field trips, along with opportunities to volunteer in the community and with citizen science projects.
